ABOUT ME:
I am a Montreal-based feminist writer and creator interested in poetry, playwriting and the role of technology in creative writing who is currently finishing my MFA at UBC in Creative Writing working on a thesis about happiness and the ethics of technology in healthcare. I am also an Artist in Residence with Imago Theatre working on a new play about food security, gender and power and the possibility of revolution. I have a background in theatre, voice, performance and communications and have worked for non-profit arts organizations focused on social justice and representation for 7 years. All of this impacts my practice as a writer. I am interested in genre hybridity, experimentation in form, technology and artistic practice, and collaboration and community-building through the arts. I value art that challenges the status quo offering opportunities for healing, accountability, social change and transformation. Subjects in my work that reappear are: trauma and mental health, transformation, witchcraft and magic, social justice and revolution, women’s rights, healing, gender and power, and technology and humanity.
I have a poetry Instagram account @crowlake.
I hope you check it out!
